In October of 2012, God brought Peter and Natalie Grant from Macon, Georgia to team with Pastor Richardson in the ministry at Highlands. As was originally planned, the church voted unanimously in September 2013 to make Peter the Co-Pastor with the intent of becoming the Lead Pastor after Pastor Richardson's retirement. On July 26, 2015, Pastor John Richardson announced his retirement, and Peter Grant became the Lead Pastor of Highlands Baptist Church.
I was born in Rockport, Maine, but grew up in sunny Lakeland, Florida. It was there under the ministry of Dr. Cham McMillen that the Lord began to turn my heart toward the ministry. During the summer of 1993 at the WILDS Christian Camp, I dedicated my life to full time Christian service and surrendered to preach. I have a B.A. in Youth Ministries from Bob Jones University. I have ministered in church work in different settings since 1997. I served as the Student Pastor at Mikado Baptist Church in Macon, GA for eleven years and now currently serve as the Lead Pastor at Highlands.
My wife, Natalie, grew up in a pastor’s home and enjoyed the experiences of ministry from an early age. She attended Bob Jones University where she pursued a degree in Nursing. She is a tremendous blessing to me and the ministry at Highlands as she dedicates her time, love and passion for God’s people.
Natalie and I have been married since June of 2002. We have two little girls named Bailee and Brooklyn. As a family we enjoy traveling, shopping and going on family walks. I spends some of my “free time” playing golf, biking and hanging with the family. Natalie enjoys browsing Pinterest and spending time outdoors - especially on the water. Our desire is to always trust the Lord and give our lives for whatever, whenever, and wherever God requires. My life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, and I am reminded daily to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
